Life can certainly weigh us down, and drive us to our knees crying out to God. Within the article below I’ve compiled 7 verses of encouragement. I truly believe they will be a huge blessing with whatever you’re going through. If you ever need prayer, always feel free to reach out.
“See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.” – Isaiah 49:16
Have you ever felt abandoned in your life?
Questioning if God still cares about you? You hear that He’s a good good Father, but you have a hard time believing that with all that has gone on in your life.
You cry out and ask “Where are you God!?”
At times it feels as though God truly has abandoned you…
And, it’s in these exact moments we must turn to the Bible and receive Biblical encouragement from the verses on the page.
In Isaiah 49:16 we hear the Lord saying He has written our names on the palms of His hands. How precious that we are so close to God.
We need only to run to Him, to lay our burdens at his feet, and allow for Him to bring us comfort. He will never leave you or forsake you. You are His beloved Child.
- What circumstances in your life have made you feel abandoned by God?
- When you read the biblical encouragement from Isaiah 49:16, what comes to your mind?
- How has God reminded you that He knows your name and that He sees you?
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7
How encouraging is it that we serve a God who allows us to cast all our burdens and anxiety on Him?
Have you ever felt like you were holding the weight of the world on your shoulders?
Worried about how you could ever bear the weight alone. I’ve been there too. Stressed, anxiety-filled, and not knowing how things would ever work out.
This school year for the kids has been a mess in 2020, with everything going on in the world. My kids were going to have to work remotely, all while my wife and I had to work full-time jobs. Morning and night I worried as to how that would look. I needed some biblical encouragement, so I turned to the verses that truly brought me hope.
How beautiful is 1 Peter 5:7 that we’re told to give all our worries and cares to God because He cares for us!
Thank you, Lord, that you truly are a Father who sees what we go through, and you’re there with us every moment of every day! Lord, continue to teach us to come to you, when we’re worried, anxiety-filled, stressed, and fearful. For you will always comfort us!
“I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you.” – Isaiah 44:22
Wow! Talk about a verse that brings encouragement.
Have you ever been ashamed of the things you have done, or the way you’ve treated others?
I know I have… From my story, you know how dark my life had become for many many years.
Just an amazing biblical encouragement, that we serve a God who has swept all our offenses away! In Christ Jesus, we now have hope and true forgiveness of our sins!
This truth should cause us to shout for JOY because we no longer are condemned by our past mistakes and actions.
- How are you walking in the forgiveness that Christ offers?
- What sins keep you up at night, feeling as if you can’t be forgiven?
- How often do you meditate on God’s endless forgiveness?
“Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” – Psalm 37:4
And He will give us the desires of our hearts! Those words bring such encouragement to my heart!
Now, this doesn’t mean we treat the Lord like a genie in a bottle. Of course not!
However, we know that we can ask the Lord and He is faithful to give us the desires of our hearts if it lines up with scripture.
When we’re going through a storm in life, we can sometimes wonder why the Lord is not giving us the desires of our hearts. Let us take up hope, and continue to be patient and wait upon the Lord. He may be trying to teach us something, we are called to take delight in Him!
- Have you seen God fulfill one of your dreams in the past? What was it like?
- What desires/dreams has the Lord laid on your heart?
- How are you working toward the dream God has placed in your heart?
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10
When you read that verse, how does it hit you? The very God who breathed this very world into existence, the one who knit you so wonderfully and beautifully in your mother’s womb. The breath you’re breathing this very moment…
It’s all a gift, all undeserved.
Yet, this perfect Father calls us to not fear, and that He is with us! I’m so thankful! Aren’t you?
- How have you experienced the presence of God in your own life?
- A relationship is two-ways, in what have you been pursuing God?
- Who is someone in your life you’re able to bring comfort, even in your struggle?
“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” – Deuteronomy 31:8
There have been many times in my life when I felt as though the Lord had left me. But the thing was, it was always me turning my back on Him. Not the other way around. And the times He is silent, I know from the Bible that He will never forsake me.
I hope this verse brings much as much encouragement to you, as it has me.
Lord, thank you for all the times you have gone before us without us knowing. Lord, we continue to ask you to go before us, at times we’re weary. But we know you are always there!
- How has God gone before you and prepared the way in the past?
- In what situations do you need God to go before you this week?
- How often do you stop and praise God for His provision before it happens? What would it look like if you did that today?
“My enemies will retreat when I call to you for help. This I know: God is on my side!” – Psalm 56:9
Who else could we ever want on your side, other than the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords! How different my life would have looked if I truly called upon the Lord in times of trouble. Instead of being consumed by the enemies that were all around me.
Let us make a habit of calling on the Lord daily! He is our strength, our high tower, He will fight our battles!
- When you think about the truth that “God is on your side”, how do you feel?
- In what situations have you been tempted to give up on yourself or someone else?
- What verses encouraged you? Will you pray them over yourself or a loved one today?
Conclusion
When we turn to God’s word, we’re able to find biblical encouragement that will lift us up in times of stormy seasons. I truly hope this was a blessing to you, and that God was able to speak through these verses. May you continue to trust in Him always, and remember how deeply you are loved by your heavenly Father.
